No matter what you’re after, you’ll find something that suits your style of relaxtion. Port Douglas is surrounded by beautiful scenery – with the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef on one side and the Daintree Rainforest on the other for those who prefer the land!
Since Pink Flamingo puts you near the action (while far enough to be secluded if you choose), here’s a look at some excellent places and Port Douglas actvities to check out if you ever plan on exploring the area:
- • Four Mile Beach – This beach must be visited to truly experience what Port Douglas has to offer. This long stretch of beach is patrolled by lifeguards and is best enjoyed for the breathtaking sunrise/sunset that it offers
- • The Great Barrier Reef – The Great Barrier Reef is another experience that must be seen to be believed in Port Douglas. Between the cruises, diving and snorkeling with sea life, you’ll have an afternoon well spent in one of the most amazing bodies of water on the planet.
- • Daintree National Park – Being one of the oldest rainforests in the world, it should come as no surprise that people have been exploring its beauty that has been around for over 130 million years.
- • Sunday Markets – See what the Port Douglas community has to offer at its Sunday Markets (open from 8am to 2pm). Whether it be craft, art, or produce, you’ll definitely find a keepsake to bring back home after your Pink Flamingo stay.

The Pink Flamingo Resort, Port Douglas is located across from the Sheraton Mirage and the magnificent Four Mile Beach. Tranquil and secluded, it is still just a few minutes away from the alluring range of restaurants, cafes and nightlife in Port Douglas.
Leave your thermals at home! At just 16 degrees below the equator, Port Douglas enjoys a blissful temperature range of 26C to 32C during the rainy season and 17C to 27C during the dry season.
Green Season is from January to March, the dry season stretches from April all the way to December.
Our ‘Top 20 ‘to do’ list for Port Douglas :
• Four Mile Beach:
just a 10min. walk across, the stinger net is located at the Northern end of beach during November – May and life saver patrolled all year round.
Watch the sunrise or full moon rise over the ocean!
• Sunday Markets:
held every Sunday 8am – 2pm on the waterfront at the end of Macrossan st. (near St. Mary’s Church) all local made produce, art & craft
• The Great Barrier Reef:
a ‘must do’ and unforgettable experience. Spend the day out snorkelling or diving the reef with one of many cruises on offer.

• Daintree National Park:
north of the Daintree River the oldest Rainforest in the world at 130 million years! Experience this beauty with a small guided tour or self drive.
• Mossman Gorge:
just a 15 minute drive north of Port Douglas with beautiful swimming holes. Park at the visitor centre and take the shuttle to the Gorge.
You can book an informative walk with a local guide from the Kuku Yalangi, the traditional Aboriginal custodians of this area or you can take a round walk on your own (approx 1 hour)
• Flames of the Forest:
a magical dining experience out in the rainforest. Available Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays.
• Bicycle Hire:
all the big hills have been removed for easy cycling! Our bike hire is only $10 per day.
• The Wildlife Habitat:
Get up close and personal with our native wildlife and experience the wonderful ‘Breakfast with the Birds’ or just go for a visit or two (you will receive a 5 day re-entry pass after your first
visit !) The award winning, open plan sanctuary is open every day and easily accessible by bike or bus.
• BBQ by the Pool:
buy some fresh seafood in town, or if you’re lucky to be here when the Prawn Trawler is at the Marina – direct from the boat!
Make use of our fresh herbs from the garden and let us know if you wish to add a bottle of wine from our wine list. Dine by candle light and enjoy the night time ambience in the garden.
Look out for the fruit bats flying over the resort at sunset!
Enjoy a half day estuary or full day reef fishing and hook onto a famous Barramundi or prized Mangrove Jack!
We can book share charters and guided trips or you can hire a boat at the Marina and try your own luck in the inlet.
• WAGLS: ‘Wednesday Afternoon Gentlemen and Ladies Sailing’
Head down to the local Yacht Club by 4.30pm for an evening sail with the locals. Offer the skipper a six pack and … ‘you’ll be right mate!’
• Indulge in a Massage:
book our experienced in-house masseuse for a relaxing and healing massage in the privacy of your own villa.
To make the most of it: fill your outdoor bath, add bathsalt and enjoy a soak after the massage. (Please ask at reception to place a booking)
• Sunset Drinks:
Enjoy a bucket of prawns washed down with a cold beer or a glass of wine at ‘On The Inlet’ their deck offer perfect sunset views. Get in earlier to watch the Groper feeding @ 5pm.
• Sunset Cruise:
every evening with Aquarius or Sailaway at 4.30pm from the Marina (please contact reception for a booking)
• Lady Douglas:
spot the croc in our own backyard, you’ll be surprised!
Departs at various times during the day from the marina but our favourite is the sunset cruise through the inlet.
• Local Gossip: pick up the gazette, published every Thursday, full of the latest goss and ‘what’s on’
(complimentary copies available in our library). Also tune in to our local FM radio station for groovy sounds and local news.
• Water Sport:
Get wet and adventurous! Go river snorkelling, sea kayaking, stand up paddle, kite surfing, white water rafting, jet boating to name but a few….
• Microlight and Helicopter flights:
Get airborne and see with a birds eye view, what this amazing area looks like, a truly great perspective.
• The Bally Hooley:
a beautiful restored sugar cane train steam engine run by a group of local, passionate volunteers. Operates every Sunday and you can board the train at the Marina.
