The Events NQ Seafood Extravaganza 2011 will take place at Meridien Marina’s iconic Marina Mirage on the first weekend of Carnivale – Sunday 22 May. In previous years, Seafood Extravaganza has been on the second weekend however this year with over 30 events in the Carnivale program, both organisers and the venue, the Marina Mirage, are preparing to make the festival lift off to a flying start with this popular family event held earlier.
Traditionally the event presents an opportunity for the local fishing fleet to show case catches produced straight from the Coral Sea. Basked in sunshine between the Mountain Ranges and Great Barrier Reef, the boardwalk at Marina Mirage provides an ideal location to host such an event. Sample seafood delicacies direct from the ocean served from working fishing vessels or tasting plates cooked to order from one of the many local Port Douglas restaurants trading on the boardwalk for the day. With a unique nautical flavour and atmosphere aided by live music from the deck of a local charter vessel, guests sit back and enjoy the ambience created with a refreshing beverage and superb tasting seafood. Free entry with live music from Funky Love Tank and plenty of entertainment for the kids.
